About Water Survival
Most important things any boat owner
can do, is to ensure they are completely prepared for water survival
Water survival stories have been around
since man has traveled on the water. When
a ship goes down, many times, it is due to bad weather and passengers
must load
into a life raft in order to survive. There are numerous accounts of
people surviving
incredible storms from the safety of an inflatable life raft. Some
reports include
survivors lasting several days in a life raft on the open seas until
they are rescued.
Many faced waves of forty feet or more with incredible winds and
pounding rains,
only to swelter under the blazing sun after the storm passed.
The most important things any boat owner can do, is to ensure they are
completely
prepared for water survival. The first step is to have a safety plan for
every
possible problem, include fires to the need to abandon ship.
Every passenger should be aware of your safety plans, know where all
safety devices
are located and know what to do in case of an emergency while out on the
water.
An important part of water survival is having a high quality life raft,
which can
carry the maximum number of people who will be on your boat at a given
time. If
you have a large vessel, then you may need several life rafts.
