Styles and Sizes of Inflatable Water Craft

There are many different styles and shapes of inflatable rafts. A boat that lacks a hull is most often referred to as a raft.

Rafts are usually constructed using flexible materials and are kept afloat through the use of either inflated containers or a buoyant material such as wood. While hulled boats are gaining popularity with all types of boating enthusiasts, whitewater enthusiasts still usually prefer rafts. Those who love whitewater really appreciate the vast variety of rafts on the market today. While some rafts are ideal for one or two people, others are large enough to take dozens of people and their gear on quite an exciting adventure.

You can find a smaller floating rafts at a very affordable rate. These are usually designed to comfortably hold from one to three people. Those with a larger budget may be more interested in larger craft which have been designed to carry large heavy loads through treacherous waters. Depending on the model you choose you can expect to pay between $1000 and $3000 for these larger models. Larger boats will usually come equipped with metal frames, and some even have seats and paddling frames.

There are many advantages to owning an inflatable raft instead of a drift boat or canoe. First they are light and easy to port anywhere, but still durable. They can handle rocks and downfalls without ever getting a puncture. They are also much more affordable than drift boats or canoes. While they are usually less expensive, it is wise to spend a little more for a quality inflatable boat that is more durable. You should spend at least a couple of hundred dollars for a good quality inflatable raft.
